Solids!!

Last night baby J tried solids for the first time. Per doctor's orders from his four month appointment we went with the veggies first, so we thought we'd try squash first. I don't think I liked it as a kid. But from what we've been recently taught, starting baby off with the veggies is better than starting off with the fruit because it helps expand their pallet for more nutritious food. Its not that the bananas, apples and pears are bad things...its simply that you want to make sure they enjoy their veggies first. Of course the opposite could always happen and you could give them their veggies, then once they taste those yummy pears, they may never wanna go back...but its a theory I'm gonna stick with, and get the nutritious stuff in my baby's tummy first before any fillers.

Last night we also brushed J's teeth for the first time. I have one of those little things that slip over your finger with the rubber brisles. Its reccomended that you start brushing babies teeth and gums as soon as they start solids. Breastmilk is a natural cleaner of teeth, so it wasn't necessary before. J's next doctor's appointment is on the 8th, next tuesday and we think he will weigh in at 14 pounds. Its crazy he still fits into a lot of his newborn clothing...but we've also been putting him in 3 to 6 month clothes now too.

Things are good lately. I still am finding it hard to balance taking care of J and getting daily things done around the house. I thought it would be cake, boy was I wrong! It doesn't help that we seem to have a spider infestation right outside the window downstairs that Hunky Hubs's chair sits in front of! Over the last week I think I've killed a dozen spiders, and Randy has killed 5 for me because they were too big, and I was too much of a chicken to kill them myself. So today after running some errands, we will just camp out upstairs where I haven't seen many spiders. Maybe I'll get some laundry done and the master bedroom cleaned up...but I will not be downstairs unless I have to. Of course when I tell Hunky Hubs my fears he just says "sweetheart, it will be fall soon and spider season will soon go away". But J is ready to crawl any day now and he loves playing on the floor and I'm afraid for him! The last spider randy killed was red with white and black legs!! Seems poisonious to me as it is was pretty colorful.

I guess I can't live upstairs forever.....but once again today I have the hibity jibities. I feel like I'm being pushed out of my own home! LOL!
