From Blog to Book!

While I didn't get to show it off at my son's second birthday party because I didn't order it within enough time, I am so excited that I was able to finally turn my son's blog that I've kept for him of his milestones since birth, into a book.

I saw a blog post from someone else who had turned their blog into a book and I thought, I need to do this with my son's blog, since I don't scrapbook. My sister in law scrapbooks, I'm just clueless when it comes to scissors and paper, so this little book was a must. I already create a DVD memoir every year for J, so why not create a year book every year for him too huh? He doesn't just have to get year books in school, he can get them from his mom and dad! Fun huh?! I only have one chance to be a parent and to absorb every moment so I never leave my camera far from reach.

Anyway, I am going to show off a little bit of his book for you. You can order a book in hard back or soft back and include as many pages as you want. You can get a basic 20 page book for about $14.95, or like the one I had made which was 52 pages. The added pages only put the cost at $35 bucks. The book I ordered was soft back, I would have ordered hard back, but it wold have ended up being $45 bucks and we just didn't have the money for that at the moment. Besides this would never be a book J would play with. It would be a book I would read to him when he is older and we'd put it back on the shelf.

So how do you turn your blog into a book? Its called Blog2Print. Its really easy to do. You input your blog feed URL and then Blog2Print starts composing your book. for you. You can edit posts out, comments out so it flows more like a book and truly makes it look professional. You can add a dedication page. We added a little dedication page for J telling him that Mommy and Daddy love him, and that we are proud of him. I also included a Milestones page and a Historical Events Page of things that occurred in his first year of life. So I totally recommend this and while I really like the feel and the heart of a scrapbook, some people don't really have the time or talent for it, so you can preserve your child's memories in a professional memory book! I personally love that google has allowed people to turn their blogs into books and for such a cheap price! I highly recommend checking it out!

Very very cool idea. I should 1st start a family blog. Then be faithful to write, and 3rd make it into a book. My parents would love me if I did this. So far Facebook has been my blog for the family.

Thanks for posting this; I saw something about this somewhere and have been curious about it. I would love to do this for our DYI home construction project for my HUBS because he is building the entire house, landscaping, barn, shop, animals, etc, etc all himself...Maybe for his next birthday or Christmas; this would be a wonderful gift for him. :) Thank you! Btw, it looks like your lil man's book turned out great and I agree with you about the hardcover for him that he wouldn't be able to play with it; good choice.

This is adorable! I'm so terrible at photo albums and scrapbooking, so it seems like a great option for me! Glad to have found you via the Making Friends Monday blog hop!

This is a fabulous idea, and something I keep urging people to do. It's also something I keep telling myself I'm going to do to keep the in-laws satiated between visits, since our family all lives so far away. I think it's a wonderful idea, and honestly creates a more durable memory for him later in life. (That said, I'm also craftily challenged. I did scrapbooks exactly once, for Christmas one year, and decided that was enough!)

What a great idea, and what a memory to pass on to his son someday!!

Thanks for sharing :-)
