Amazon Rain

I am excited that I have had the opportunity to try Amazon Rain! What is it? Well its natural skin care from the rainforest. Have you ever read the back of one of your bottles of facial cleanser or moisturizer? Please do. You will see things like methylparaben, petrolatum, Titanium Dioxide, Collagen, Lanolin, Propylene glycol and the list of ingredients goes on. Do you know what these are? They are toxic agents believed to cause cancer or be less than affective on your skin.

Before writing this post I decided to do some research on what truly organic skin care entails. From totalbeauty.com  "There is no legal definition of "natural" on beauty products. "A product technically can claim to be 'natural' if it has one iota of a natural ingredient in it, even if the rest of the ingredients in it are all chemicals and preservatives," says Joannie McIntyre, beauty writer for Sephora. The product might contain water or a micro-drop of aloe, and a company can put "natural" on the label."

So are organic products safer for you?

Also from Totalbeauty.com "To date, there is no published independent research proving a product with organic ingredients is more effective than a conventional product. However, most experts, including Minowa, agree there is an eco benefit: An organic ingredient might not make your hair shinier or dark eye circles disappear faster, but it is produced without chemicals or pesticides -- which is good for the environment."

So you might be wondering why I am so behind Amazon Rain. Well the fact is, we need more skin care lines that use "natural" resources and help empower indigenous people of the world. In basic terms if we can cut the crap out of skin care products and start leaning toward more "whole" natural ways to treat skin, the better our skin will look and the better it is for the environment.

While using Amazon Rain I didn't experience anything astounding or profound about the product after a few uses, but after a few weeks of use, I started preferring it over the other products on my shelf simply because my skin felt fresher, cleaner and less like I had a film on it. Most of the products I've used have left my skin feeling filmy or oily, and the thing is I never would have recognized that my skin felt that way, until I tried Amazon Rain.

With a lot of cleansers it leaves your skin feeling striped of moisture and the rush to quickly lubricate your skin is needed right after washing. You lather on the lotion, then mid-day especially in the winter, you feel the need once again to re-apply moisture to your skin. This affects your skin's PH balance. Your skin should be able to maintain that balance without constant re-application of moisturizers.

When I first tried the Amazon Rain botanical cleanser, I was surprised that it didn't lather, it didn't have micro beads to scrub, it simply cleansed my skin and had the most pleasant "citrusy" smell. After using it, my skin did not feel stripped of anything, just clean. Its one of those things where you don't understand clean, until you've experienced it a certain way. I didn't feel the need to hurry up, towel off and put on moisturizer before my skin started to crack and dry out like I have felt with tons of other facial cleansers.

I next applied the Camu C Serum. It is a serum that helps you fight the signs of aging. It nurtures your skin with key antioxidant compounds that stimulate healthy collagen production and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase firmness and elasticity, giving your skin a more lifted look. One of the things a lot of products have is "collagen" in it. The thing is, this serum doesn't have collagen in it, it helps you produce your own collagen. Do you know what collagen in products is? Collagen in other skin care products are extracted from animal skins and ground chicken feet! The protein cannot penetrate the pores by rubbing it on the skin; it only serves to clog the pores and keep the skin from functioning properly. Instead you need a product that will help your skin produce the collagen it needs on its own, and this serum can help.

Last I applied the moisturizer. Now the moisturizer confused me a bit. I wasn't putting something on that sat on my skin, instead it absorbed right into my skin, and my next instinct was that I needed more. I think for three or four days I applied way too much, until I realized, wait I'm not having to re-moisturize in the middle of the day and I really don't need this much. I believe it really has helped my PH balance. This replenishing moisturizer helps balance hydration and lock in moisture to maintain your skin's youthful vibrancy. I definitely like the moisturizer as it is so light on my skin and doesn't leave any sort of film. Most of the ingredients in this moisturizer are fruit oils, which are easily absorbed into the skin. You won't find any collagen or -parabens in this stuff, you won't find ingredients that sit on your skin making it feel oily. This moisturizer is probably the closest thing I've found to matching exactly what my skin has needed.

So here is a recap: I feel like Amazon Rain doesn't weigh my skin down like other products do. At first I was worried using a new product because it always seems like my skin needs an acclimation period. Whenever I've switched products I've gone thru spells of oiliness or dryness, so I was expecting that while trying Amazon Rain, and it never happened. My skin felt refreshed, rejuvenated and I never felt the need to re-apply moisturizer thru out the day like I've needed to with other products, even with this dry winter weather. Amazon rain moisturizes, it doesn't strip your skin, then replace it with harmful ingredients that your skin becomes dependent on. It helps your PH balance so your skin can protect its self against free radicals.
