What could be more bittersweet or in fact heartbreaking than finding out you are pregnant while your husband is deployed or deploying soon? I have friends with spouses in the military and we've all seen the heartbreaking stories of the moms to be left waiting for their husbands to come home safe and sound. I am happy to be talking to you about Operation Shower this morning. It is a non-profit organization that throws baby showers for expectant mothers while their husbands are deployed. Their mission is about celebrating and honoring military families who have to put their service before their families much of the time. Operation Shower was born in March of 2007 by LeAnne Morrissey by sending four military wives "showers in a box". It then took off in June of that year when she teamed up with Kris Jackson to give the entire unit at Fort Bragg, NC a baby shower. To date Operation shower has showered over 850 women and have held over 24 unit wide showers on military bases. You can keep up with what is going on with Operation Shower by following their blog.
