Frito Chili Pie Recipe

I was born in Texas, where I just discovered that fritos got their start, and one of the dishes I remember having as a child was Frito Chili Pie. Now everyone makes their's a little different. Its kinda like chili, everyone has their own concoction. I don't know how the recipe was from my childhood, but I knew the basic ingredients and added a few extra ones.

What you'll need for my recipe:

One 10oz Bag of Fritos
2 Cans of Hormel Chili
a can of chilis
1 onion (I only use half though)
Green onions
One roma tomato (optional)
Shredded Colby Jack Cheese

You can use a glass or a metal  square pan. (If you use a metal pan, spray the pan with cooking oil first.)

Directions:

Pre-heat Oven to 350
Chop your onion and green onions
Put a layer of fritos on the bottom of the pan, pop a few in your mouth.

Spoon in the layer of Chili just so it covers the fritos, but not real thick or you will run out of chili.

Sprinkle chopped onions, green onions, half a can of chilis and cut tomatoes over the chili.

Repeat, adding another layer of fritos and all the above ingredients.

Top with cheese, cover with tin foil and pop in the oven for 25 minutes

After 25 minutes remove foil and put back in for another five minutes so the cheese browns a little.

The easiest, tastiest casserole dish you'll ever come across.

(Note: If you don't cover it, you will have hard yucky nasty cheese, so take my advice and cover it for the first 25 minutes.)

Pin It If You Love it! ;)

yum! That's good eatin' right there, y'all! I'm from the South, too ;D That looks way better than the fast food versions. I've never officially made this, before, but we've had the ingredients in separate bowls and built it up like nachos. I'll definitely make this one day, soon. :) I heart fritos.

Didn't know they made a fast food version of this. I'm now in AZ and left Texas as a child. Interesting.
