Have you ever had to cancel your child's birthday party because they were ill? We just had to. Saturday was supposed to be the day we invited our family and closest friends over to celebrate J turning four. His birthday was actually on Thursday, but we saved his party for when people could come.
Friday evening he told me that his tummy hurt. He wanted to cuddle, so I went to sit down with him on the couch and then a few minutes later he says "mommy the throw up is coming". I did all I could to get this child to the closest bathroom, I got right outside the door when a Galiger moment of throw up spewed out onto my newly mopped tile floor right in front of the bathroom, and it just kept coming. He had his ipod in his had and that got drenched. Thankfully that was in a child case, but vomit still managed to get inside. Don't ask me how!
We spent the evening cleaning up towels of vomit and rushing him to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Then we all passed out in the living room for a night of rest. He woke in the early morning a few times to say he had to throw up, but of course nothing was in his stomach so he was dry heaving over the toilet. Hunky Hubs still wanted to give him a party. I was against it just due to "contageous issues". Hunky Hubs thought that it would be like a punishment if he didn't get his party. So we waited til Grandma called and said she was sick before we decided to cancel. The roads were wet anyway with snow and maybe it was just not the right weekend for a party anyway. I quickly called and canceled his cake order. (Not a baker, I don't make cakes)
But today, when it warms up a bit and the sun melts the snow on the sidewalks, I think I'll let him out in the driveway to ride it a bit!

Oh no, how unfortunate!! Hopefully he's on the mend now. Thankfully I've never had to cancel a birthday party due to illness, but as a guest in a situation like this, I'd sure be thankful that you cancelled to spare people the possibility of shared germs :)
Aww bless him poor thing :(
I remember having chickenpox for one of my birthdays I think it was my 6th? I was meant to be having a joint birthday bash with a friend - I was really looking forward to it. Got to have a small little one a few weeks later.
I hope he enjoys his bike and up and coming party - just tell him it means his birthday lasts longer lol xx
Aww, poor little guy. Glad he is feeling better now andhave a great party next weekend
Awww poor guy! He looks pretty happy with that bike though!
Poor thing! We had to cancel my daughter's 1st birthday party because she was sick. And my mom and grandfather had even flown in from out of state! Then we had to cancel it again when
she got sick the day before the date of her rescheduled party. We gave up rescheduling it at that point because between the birthday girl being sick all of the time, and Daddy's Navy schedule, we couldn't get it all worked out. Thankfully she was too young to know!

Yeah with as much as I agreed with my husband about it being a punishment, I knew it was the right thing to do. I wouldn't want all my guests coming down with a dreaded stomach bug after visiting. Thanks for stopping by Becky!
Poor baby! And poor mommy! What a weekend. Well, spring is almost here and hopefully both snow and illnesses will be ending. Hope he is back to 100% soon. Visiting from the LBN.
Thanks for stopping by Gaye! I will visit very soon!!
Yes he is! Got to ride it outside twice yesterday and I'm sure this week will be filled with more bike rides as its supposed to get up to the high 60's! Yay!!
Thanks Terri!
I bet that was devastating at the age of six. At four it was pretty heartbreaking for him too, but we quickly made up for it when we presented him with his bike.
I am sorry to hear about your son's illness. I for one cannot handle vomit and usually join in on the 'fun'... so hats off to you. Hope he is better now.
Aww, little guy! Happy birthday to him. I bet the bike made up for the cancelled party. He looks pretty happy. :)
Oh no. Poor little guy and I bet that you spent so much time arranging the time and date. I'm glad he is better and will be able to enjoy his celebrations in good health!
